Heaven Can Wait prides itself in being very responsible in adopting dogs and cats.  We do not adopt on the spot.  We do require a dog applicant to be a homeowner, and do check real estate records.  We do require potential adopters to be responsible pet owners, and will perform a Vet check to make sure your pets are properly Vetted.   Pets can live 15+ years, and we attempt to place them in "forever homes".   Heaven Can Wait is a highly respected organization in the Veterinary profession for our thoroughness and not taking the easy adoption route of passing out pets like candy. 

 
We do NOT guarantee a dog to be housebroken. 
 

SERIOUS APPLICATIONS ONLY.  Do not apply for a pet from Heaven Can Wait unless you are aware of the application process, which may take up to week.  Some are able to be approved the next day.  We will notify you of the status.  You will not be approved the same day, and if you cannot wait for your application to be processed, then do not apply.

If approved, you MUST be able to meet and adopt the pet the within 3 days.  We DO NOT hold pets.

Once you have applied, please notify your Veterinarian's office that Heaven Can Wait will be contacting them for a Vet reference.  We check to see if your current or previous dogs are spayed or neutered, regularly heartworm tested and kept on heartworm preventative, and are current on vaccines.  Cats should have been spayed or neutered, tested for FIV and feline leukemia, and current on vaccines.

Processing the Pre-Adoption Application requires numerous steps, which require alot of time.  Do NOT fill out the Pre-Adoption Application unless all family members are in agreement about potentially adopting a Heaven Can Wait pet.  

Heaven Can Wait does NOT adopt dogs to renters.  Unfortunately, most owner surrenders at the pound are from people who rent.  For cats, if you rent, you will be required to provide Heaven Can Wait with a copy of your lease showing that pets are permitted.
 

Heaven Can Wait accepts CASH ONLY.  Adoption Fee is Non-Refundable.

*special breeds and puppies may cost more.  discounts may be given when adopting siblings.  special needs and older pets may  cost less.

If you believe that our rates, or any other rescue group rates, are too high, please take the time to call your Veterinarian and get a quote for all of the Vetting that is included with adopting a cat or dog.  If it weren't for the generosity of local Veterinarians rendering discount rates to rescue groups, we could not have the adoption fee so low.
