"The Animals' Savior"

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter  ...  the cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.

And I was angry.

"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"

God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.

"I have done something," He replied.

"I created You."

Cage after empty cage, following the very successful Summit County Animal Control Adoptathon on July 24, 2010.  Here are a few of the many empty cages that once held dogs facing certain euthanasia if not adopted.   MORE EVENT PHOTOS

This dog, once caged over 23 hours a day, was adopted.  Now "Sundae" is in a loving forever home, where she will be happy, and loved, especially by Kayleigh.

Pictured above is Summit County Executive Russ Pry and Heaven Can Wait Director, Pat Mihaly.  Thanks to Mr. Pry for making this adoptathon happen and saving so many lives!

Thank you to those who came to support Heaven Can Wait at the  4th Annual "Hot Dogs for a Cause" on July 16th.  This year the event was held at the Heaven Can Wait House, with a wonderful crew of volunteers.

Heaven Can Wait also participated in the Buchtel Neighborhood Group Community Day "The Spirit of the Community" on July 17th.    We got to meet alot of nice people who shared our enthusiasm and mission.

A wonderful time was had by all who participated in the Firestone Park Summer Celebration 2010, on June 26th!   Thank you to the many visitors to the Heaven Can Wait booth.  It was wonderful hearing your continued support for our organization and efforts!    People got to meet three of our rescues:  Quantum, Piglet, and Nacho, and were amazed that these precious dogs, had they not been rescued by Heaven Can Wait, may have been euthanized.     Remember, Heaven Can Wait is an all volunteer organization who relies on your donations to continue saving lives, and paying to bring those rescues to optimal health with Veterinary  care, which is not free.  Remember, Heaven Can Wait is a non-profit 501c3 organization, so your donation is tax deductible.   (more photos)

Each year the United Way of Summit County has one special day called the "Day of Action", where local businesses volunteer to help out at area non-profit organizations.

This year, Heaven Can Wait was very pleased to have six employees from the T.J. Maxx store, on Howe Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls, help.    They helped repack dog and cat food from little packages into bigger boxes, a task that usually takes one Heaven Can Wait volunteer about a half hour each to do.  This wonderful crew was able to accomplish alot with their organized teamwork.

Thank you very much United Way and T.J. Maxx employees, as well as Heaven Can Wait volunteer Melinda!

In the spirit of this year's Neighbors Day theme "Living Together Better", Heaven Can Wait- Rescue & Adoptions participated Saturday May 29th  in the City of Akron's fourth annual Neighbors Day event.

Shown here are a few of our wonderful, dedicated volunteers who helped make this day welcoming at the Heaven Can Wait House!  Also shown in this photo are a few of the Heaven Can Wait adoptable dogs:  Piglet the Puggle, Windsor the Olde English Sheepdog, and Nacho the Chihuahua/Terrier mix

Thank you to those who stopped by!

Heaven Can Wait is in need of dog foster homes.  All dogs are totally vetted.  We supply the leash, collar, necessary supplies, and food.  You supply the love!  Just fill out our online Pre-Adoption Application and put "foster" in where the dogs name is.   Why?  Alot of fosters end up adopting the dog they are fostering.  This would streamline the adoption should you decide to give the dog a forever home!

We are also seeking dedicated Volunteers!   Especially needed are Event Volunteers, where Heaven Can Wait is at a community event, where we have a table and usually show some available dogs!  Contact:  outreach@heaven-can-wait.com if you are interested in volunteering!

Heaven Can Wait is pleased to announce Denise as our Feline Program Coordinator.  Denise brings with her years of experience in cat care.      There is nothing that she would not do to ensure that every cat is taken very well care of, and each one loved.   No  head goes unpatted with Denise.    Heaven Can Wait, and all of it's cat rescues, are truly blessed to have Denise on board!

Next New Volunteer Orientation:  August 4th.        more info

Hayley and Jordana visited the Heaven Can Wait House, bringing much needed donations for Heaven Can Wait.  These two precious girls also went door to door in their neighborhood, collecting money for the rescued animals of Heaven Can Wait.  Truly, these two are Angels!

Seen here are the girls holding Nelson, one of the many cats rescued from the Summit County Animal Control Facility.

A big thank you to Hayley and Jordana.

These precious seniors were not made available to the public for adoption because Summit Animal Control considered them too old.  Heaven Can Wait didn't think so, and others didn't think so either.

(Monday, May 31, 2010)   The Akron Beacon Journal finally printed a Voice of the People editorial in support of former Executive Director, Heather Nagel (link).  It is very much appreciated, as this editorial truly reflects the majority of people who know the truth about what happened.   For more information about the facts of Heather Nagel's charges, trial, and sentencing, please visit:  www.hsgaexposed.com      Thank you.
